September Trivia Challenge What do you know? CBIP is sponsoring a special one month long trivia challenge. Instead of competing for a week, we will also be competing for the best score for the month. Since we normally are every other week, we are adding two special meetups, one for September 9th and the other September 23rd. Flaunt your knowledge (we usually need help with pop culture and sports questions), or simply socialize and cheer on our team. Trivia starts at 8:30 and runs until 10:30. Martin and Elisa usually arrive around at eightish and stake out a table near the northeast corner of the restaurant, close to the stage. Look for the red Meetup sign and/or a familiar face! Cheeseburger in Paradise is attached to the Ramada Inn at 334 Route 46 in Wayne NJ, although Google says it's in Little Falls. It's just east of the Willowbrook/West Belt Mall, on the eastbound Route 46 service road. Follow the small white-on-blue signs that read 'SERVICE ROAD.' Please note that Google maps seems to have a lot of difficulty finding this place so our map link doesn't work all that well. This link seems to work better though: Another way to get directions P.S. Martin's transcriptions of the questions from some past games are posted on the Message Board.

North Jersey Game Meetup September Board Game Meetup Hopefully we will "See You in September" Dont worry, I wont start singing. At the moment still tinkering with the agenda for that night. In order to mix things up a little bit I was thinking of going with one game played in some tournament style format. Curious to know what everyone thinks. Should finalize plans in a few days. One again the venue will be Fuddruckers on Route 46 in Parsippany, They are open until 10:00 PM (although we finnally rolled out at 10:30) and also offer beer and wine for those so inclined. (like me). For those who haven't been there it has walk-up service (no waitresses) and a menu of mostly burgers and pub style food. If you join the Fudd's Club on the internet, you will get a coupon every so often in your e-mail. The meetup starts at 7 PM and will run until whenever they kick us out, I am planning on getting there at 6:30 for dinner, anyone who wants to is welcome to join me. Hope to see you there. Dave

Morris County Book Club Meetup FOR 2010 READING SELECTIONS SEE THE "ABOUT" PAGE ON THIS WEBSITE. The Help by Kathryn Stockett Fiction; 544 pp. Three ordinary women are about to take one extraordinary step. Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy till Skeeter has a ring on her finger. Skeeter would normally find solace with her beloved maid Constantine, the woman who raised her, but Constantine has disappeared and no one will tell Skeeter where she has gone. Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way. She is devoted to the little girl she looks after, though she knows both their hearts may be broken. Minny, Aibileens best friend, is short, fat, and perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi. She can cook like nobodys business, but she cant mind her tongue, so shes lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation. But her new boss has secrets of her own. Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we dont.
